I have a Master of Science, Structural Engineering, Bachelor of Science, Civil Engineering, Mathematics Minor all from Brigham Young University. I am a National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) record-holder with Civil and Structural Model Law status, and therefore have the ability to obtain additional state licensure as required in a timely manner , depending on the jurisdiction. With that being said, I have been in the industry for 12 years. I have provided engineering and project management experience in the fields of residential, commercial, and industrial building structural design and retrofit, electrical transmission line structural design, and forensic engineering and expert witnessing.
My residential and commercial building design and retrofit experience includes landscape structures, houses, restaurants, theaters, pharmacies, solar arrays, and other miscellaneous structures utilizing all major construction materials and several specialty materials. I also have industrial design experience that includes providing fall protection anchorage evaluation and design at industrial structures. I have designed unique structures and retrofits including cantilevered towers, parabolic steel arch trusses, and fiber-reinforced polymer retrofits to post-tensioned concrete slabs. I also have experience that includes high- and low-voltage power line support structures, tract houses, landscape structures, theaters, pharmacies, restaurants, custom homes, multi-story apartments over podium slabs, and other structures utilizing wood, masonry, steel, concrete, and carbon fiber reinforced polymer.
I have conducted over 550 forensic investigations that include roof failures, wall failures, foundation damage, corrosion, ancillary structure damage, and other miscellaneous damage resulting from hail, wind, snow, tornado, lightning, volcano, tropical storm, vehicle impact, or other natural or manmade forces. I am a licensed civil/structural engineer in 16 states from the east coast to the Hawaiian islands. My experience as an expert witness has been testifying at depositions and trials regarding project management, structural failures, property compliance with building codes, and other subjects. With all this experience, it has given me the chance to become the best forensic engineering expert witness that I can be.
